From his 'speech of triumph' in Ramallah:
"You have proof that you are stronger than the occupation, because you are Palestinians... stronger than the settlements, because you are Palestinians...One day, a young Palestinian will raise the Palestinian flag over Jerusalem,” he vowed, “the eternal capital of the state of Palestine!”
Ma'an has it as
East Jerusalem is now secured as the capital of the Palestinian state, he said,
Abbas affirmed that Jerusalem will always be the capital of Palestine and said that this recognition changes the situation on ground.
Quds Media has it so:
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told thousands of Palestinians who gathered to greet him Sunday after returning from the United Nations, "Yes we became now state and our capital is Jerusalem forever."...Abbas...repeated phrases that Arafat had repeated "[the] day will come when [the] young cub will raise [the] flag of Palestine over the walls of Jerusalem, and the churches of Jerusalem...Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Palestine forever."
No peace but all fiery contentious language and repetition of hardline views with no compromise proffered.
In any case, I do presume that the Jewish communities are, physically, as strong as the Arabs construct them. That I grant.
And how ironic is it that
a) the majority of the construction workers for the Yesha communities have been local Arabs from Judea, Samaria and Gaza; and
b) the our strength to withstand the threat of a drive for a second Arab state in the Land of Israel is commensurate with the strength the Arabs presume they have which forces us to be stronger defensively; and
c) not only physically, but due to the Arab negation and denial, our inner strength, that of commitment, that of spiritual ariseness, that of motivation, that of dedication, that power derived from our national, historical, religious and cultural experience and ethos is increase and outmatches the Arab indigenents* of our country.
my word for indigenous people.
