Human rights organisation condemns PA security refusal to implement court ruling

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has warned of the repercussions of the refusal by the PA security to implement a court decision and release one of it detainees. The centre said in a statement that the refusal of the PA security in al-Khalil governorate to release Muhammad Abu Arqoub (42 years) despite a court decision stipulating his release on bail despite payment of the prescribed surety.
Feryal Abu Arqoub, wife of the detainee told PCHR researcher that here husband was, who is a teacher at a school in Dura, was arrested by the PA preventive security while on his way to work on 4 October.
On 7 October Mr. Abu Arqoub appeared in a magistrate court in Dura where he was accused of assaulting the security elements who arrested him without providing any evidence or witnesses. The judge ruled that he should be released on bail on payment of a 500 Dinar surety.
PCHR says that despite the court ruling and the payment of the surety the PA security still refuse to release Mr. Abu Arqoub.
The PA security stopped Awad Rojoub, al-Jazeera net correspondent, from photographing the site of the incident.
Rojoub told the PCHR researcher that students of Abu Arqoub threw stones at the PA security when they witnessed the arrest of their teacher which took place just outside the school.
He also told the PCHR that when he went with his friend Khale Amayreh to photograph the site of the incident they were stopped by PA security men and told that they need a permission to do that. They tried to get that permission but their applications were rejected.
The PCHR called for the immediate release of Abu Arqoub and for facilitating the work of journalists and protecting them.
