GAZA, (PIC)-- The head of the political bureau of Hamas Khaled Mishaal stressed his movement keenness on inter-Palestinian dialogue confirming that efforts had not stopped since last June. He said that Palestinian and Arab efforts to bring Hamas and Fatah together have failed because "the other party [Fatah] seems to be pleased with the state of division and puts difficult conditions [for dialogue to take place]."
Mishaal stressed in a telephone statement to the Aqsa Radio on the occasion of Eid that "While Hamas is keen on dialogue it does not beg for it. Hamas extends its hand for dialogue with confidence and not out of fear."
He also said that he did not expect anything to happen in this regard before the autumn conference, not because his movement does not want dialogue to take place but because "some are pinning their hopes on this conference," adding that "those who are closing [the doors in the face of ] dialogue today will discover the illusion they are harrowing towards and who ever wants to besiege the Gaza Strip and starve its population will lose the bet."
He also stated that whoever wants to read the events since last June will fail to get a clear picture as the events of that month were the bitter fruits of continuous scheming for a year and a half in an attempt to foil the results of the elections with American and Israeli support.
