PA TV removes terrorists' pictures from a video following PMW's exposure

by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

Following Palestinian Media Watch's exposure of a PA TV video dedicated to "our brave prisoners" that included pictures of 7 terrorists who together are responsible for killing more than 100 Israeli civilians, PA TV has removed the pictures of the terrorists from the video.

In the new version of the video, which has been broadcast at least 18 times in recent weeks, the well-known terrorists' pictures have been replaced with footage of prisoners in jail.

The previous version of the video that included the terrorists can be viewed here.

The terrorists that were honored were:

Ibrahim Hamed - serving 54 life sentences for planning suicide bombings, including at Hebrew University (9 killed), Cafe Moment (12 killed), Cafe Hillel (7 killed), Zion Square in Jerusalem (11 killed).

Abbas Al-Sayid - serving 35 life sentences for planning two suicide bombings, one in 2002 at a Passover dinner, killing 30 Israelis, and another in 2001, killing 5 and wounding 100.

Nasser Awais - serving 14 life sentences for planning terror attacks in which 13 civilians were killed, including an attack at a private Bat-Mitzva celebration and the killing of a baby in 2002.

Marwan Barghouti - serving 5 life sentences for planning terror attacks.

Yasser Abu Bakr - responsible for killing two in terror attack in Netanya in 2002.

Ahmad Sa'adat - serving 30 years for heading the terrorist organization PFLP.
A song at a PFLP event also praised him for planning the assassination of Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze'evi in 2001, but has not been tried for this crime.

Fuad Al-Shubaki - serving 20 years for involvement in the Karine A Affair in 2002, in which 50 tons of illegal weapons were found aboard a Palestinian ship.

This is the third time in recent weeks that PMW's exposure of Palestinian hate or terror promotion has led to immediate responses from those responsible. PMW's exposure of Antisemitic content and Holocaust denial in op-eds published by Ma'an, an independent Palestinian news service, led to their removal.

The following are the words of the PA TV music video dedicated to "our brave prisoners":

Text on screen: "Dedicated by the Alashekeen band to our brave prisoners."
Clip of Mahmoud Abbas speech: "We will not rest until all [prisoners] are freed, and the prisons are emptied."
Lyrics of song: "We are pledged to the promise and the revolution. Our hearts are full of faith."

[Broadcast several times on PA TV (Fatah) since Feb. 12, 2013]

Note: The video including the seven terrorists' pictures originally aired on May 7, 2012 and was rebroadcast 11 times in 2012 and twice on Jan. 30, 2013. PMW reported on the rebroadcast of this terror glorification on Feb. 5, and since Feb. 12, the video without the specific terrorists' faces has been broadcast 18 times.
