The Hamas Movement on Sunday warned that the PLO factions were covering up the PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and his entourage's attempt to prepare the atmosphere for liquidating the Palestine cause. The Movement, in a statement, called on those factions to reconsider their positions that exaggerate what happens in Gaza and give a blind eye to what is happening in the West Bank.
It said that the PLO factions' call for a general strike, which ended up in failure, was meant to put hurdles in face of Hamas and to weaken it in line with a regional and international scheme, which the PA presidency is enthusiastically carrying out.
Hamas saluted the Palestinian masses in the Strip that refused the call for strike and advised the PLO factions to call for a protest sit-in against the civil servants who receive salaries from Ramallah and do not go to work.
In a similar tone, Dr. Abdul Sattar Qassem, the political science professor in Najah University, strongly denounced the call for a general strike in Gaza on Sunday.
He questioned those factions' stands, saying: "Why didn't you call for strike when hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad activists were held in PA jails?"
The political analyst championed balanced stands away from bias, which he said only leads to pitfalls.
